LectraFinish: Finally, an easy way
to custom paint cars and motorcycles!
Produce beautiful crystal
effects.
Small hard plastic car bodies,
motorcycle tanks, and quarter scale car hoods to show off your painting
skills.
Because the prep work and taping
is minimal, you can satisfy customers with limited budgets or incorporate
LectraFinish effects into other designs.
If you are
an auto body shop that just does straight painting, LectraFinish is your
entry into more interesting work.
Lectra finish is a
hydrodynamic liquid mask, designed to be the perfect addition to any
airbrush project. When applied over a painted and sanded surface the
LectraFinish crystals start their work, forming into a beautifully
complex crystallized mask.
Then all you do is apply your second coat of paint, let it dry, and wash it
away. Apply a clear coat and you'll have a individually customized paint
job, done the LectraFinish way.
The product is a colorless, non-toxic mask that works with almost any type
of paint. You can create, paint, mix and match with any colors, so the
combinations are virtually limitless.
The examples that follow show a variety of crystal effects that vary
primarily in the two contrasting colors that were chosen.
LectraFinish's crystals can be manipulated in size by
varying the temperature and humidity while spraying. This is not
difficult to do when using a spray booth.
The www.lectrafinish.com site has
video instructions on how to
use the product. There is also a forum that is worth visiting. The product
isn't difficult to use, and the company staff is very helpful in making sure
that you and your clients love the finished look. The most important
instruction is that solvents should not be used in cleaning between steps.
Use water and Dawn or Ivory dishwashing detergent instead.
You can purchase a quart of LectraFinish for $79
which will do 80 square feet.
A pint for $40 will do 40 square feet. You can
purchase it from their site or this one. The reason for purchasing it here
(or calling me to purchase it) is the bonus that I offer.
The half-Bob (Harley Fat Boy) plastic tanks are
a great way to show your designs. Because they stack and weigh a pound or
two, they are more practical to transport to motorcycle shows. At $29 apiece
they are an inexpensive alternative to the real thing and are the same size.
